Thornton Breakers is a family run business that started trading in 1987 by the owner Peter Jones. He opened the yard originally based in Thornton where he broke cars, vans and 4x4s for parts and had complete vehicles for sale. Due to the demand for 4x4s parts in 1998 he began to specialise in this market,

In 1991 his son Cameron was born, and when old enough he became part of the firm. He helped in the yard and brought the company up with the times to start getting parts and vehicles advertised online. Later Hollie, Peter’s eldest daughter joined the firm and took over the advertising and administrating roles.

In 2010 due to the growth of the business in Thornton, a second site was purchased in Halifax. For 2 years Thornton Breakers was running from 2 sites, 1 ran by son Cameron, and the other by James who has more than 20 years’ work experience with the firm. Peter would spend time at both sites, getting his hands dirty in the yard, working the office and making sure that everything was running just how he liked it.

In 2012 the Halifax site was extended, and the Thornton yard was closed, moving all staff across to the new permanent site. The business has grown from strength to strength, and we are lucky enough that each year the company continues to grow. In 2015 the company became a limited company which Peter, Cameron and Hollie are all directors of. In 2018 youngest daughter Courtney also came on board to handle all social medial and advertisement campaigns.

We have fantastic facilities here that enable us to offer a collection and fitting service for supplied Engine, Gearbox, Axle and Chassis replacements. Reconditioned gearboxes and transfer-boxes are also available to be purchased. Trade or not, we give everyone the best price we can on all our secondhand parts. All our used parts are cleaned and tested and carry a minimum 3-month warranty, re-conditioned parts come with a 12month warranty.

Not only do we sell parts to the Uk, but we also ship them overseas to places such as Malta, USA, and export 20ft and 40ft containers to places such as Greece, Trinidad and Tobago, and Egypt etc. Do not worry if it is just 1 part or a container load you need, we can assist you.
